The view from the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel.
The lawyers at Ziff Law have been busy in the last few weeks helping our friends and neighbors in the Twin Tiers better understand the importance of having a robust car insurance policy. We evaluate car insurance policies FOR FREE and tell folks whether they have enough insurance to protect themselves and their families in case they are ever in a crash.
All you have to do is either scan or photograph the pages from your insurance policy that lists your coverages and premiums and email it to us at info@zifflaw.com or fax it to us at 607-732-6062. We will then review your policy for free and email you our analysis of your existing coverage and how it might be improved. Our review is confidential. We never share your information with anyone outside the law firm.
This week is a great time to send us your insurance policy because, if you do, we’ll enter you in a drawing that will be held next week for a free night at the great Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel.
We understand that people live on tight budgets, and they don’t want to give an extra penny to the insurance giants. BUT when it comes to car insurance, a small extra investment in your insurance will provide peace of mind and the protection you need if you should ever have a crash and need to use your insurance policy.
We’re not doing this to help the insurance companies. We don’t work for them and we don’t make any money off this free program. We do this because we know what can happen to families who are underinsured when a crash occurs. We see the heartbreaking results all the time.
Here is what I told a Twin Tiers resident recently about her car insurance:
Thanks for participating. Your policy is what I would call “borderline OK” – not bad, but not great.
First, I would recommend boosting your liability coverage to $250,000/$500,000. This would give you better coverage if, God forbid, you hurt someone else but, more importantly, it lets you boost your SUM (Supplementary Uninsured) coverage also to $250/500K. SUM is really important because it provides coverage from your own insurance carrier if you should have the misfortune of getting hurt by someone with no or little insurance coverage.
Second, you have the bare minimum ($50,000) of No-Fault coverage. Because $50,000 goes nowhere these days for medical expenses or lost wages, I strongly urge folks to buy additional No-Fault coverage called APIP (Additional Personal Injury Protection) with $75,000 coverage and OBEL (Optional Basic Economic Loss) coverage for $25,000.
Finally, your insurance company is somewhat famous for only wanting to offer basic/minimum coverage, so if they resist supplementing your coverage, I would urge you to deal with a local agent. Two great local agents are Mike Stamp at E.C. Cooper in Watkins Glen and Peter Wallin in Elmira. Both agents really go to the mat for their customers.
She responded: “Thank you so much for all of the great information and the advice regarding my insurance company. I will definitely be looking into this. Thank you so much for your time!”
Here is how you can get your FREE insurance review: Everyone who emails us at info@zifflaw.com with their insurance information by midnight on Sunday, Sept. 15, is entered in a drawing for one free night at the fantastic hotel overlooking Seneca Lake. We will select the winner on Sept. 18th and announce the winner on our Facebook page.
If you have questions, call us during business hours at 607-733-8866 or 1-800-ZIFFLAW (800-943-3529) or email us with your questions any time at info@zifflaw.com and we will respond as soon as possible.
Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
